Revolutionary New Treatments for Intracranial Aneurysms

September, 2005--UK

The treatment of intracranial aneurysms has been revolutionized by the availability of coiling.  This technology has been available since the early 1990's but recent evidence from a large randomized control trial clearly demonstrates the improved outcomes with coil embolization as compared to craniotomy and microsurgical clipping in patients presenting with aneurysm rupture, also known as subarachnoid hemorrhage.
